PhD Topic
Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities and Ageing in Place
Project/PhD research Summary
This PhD research focuses on understanding the underlying reasons behind the formation of Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities and their implications for ageing in place. It examines how demographic change, migration patterns, housing conditions, service availability, and community environments interact to shape the emergence of these communities. The research uses systems thinking, and spatial analysis to explore the dynamic mechanisms that influence older adult concentration in particular places. The aim is to provide a stronger theoretical and practical foundation for planning and policy responses to population ageing.
